BLUE MISSIONS CELEBRATES WORLD WATER DAY WITH LAUNCH OF #MAKETHEWORLDBLUE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

On World Water Day, Friday, March 22, several Miami landmarks will light up in blue as a reminder of the 663 million people globally who do not have access to clean water

MIAMI – March 22, 2019 -

BLUE Missions, the Miami-based and youth-lead non-profit organization that connects rural communities in Latin America with access to clean water and sanitation, today announced they have partnered with community business, leaders, and celebrities to kick off their #MakeTheWorldBLUE campaign on World Water Day, which will be celebrated on Friday, March 22. The campaign aims to bring awareness to the world water crisis and the 663 million people globally who do not have access to clean water.

As part of the campaign, on World Water Day everyone is encouraged to show support by sharing a special BLUE Square image created by BLUE Missions across social media platforms with the hashtags: #MakeTheWorldBLUE #WorldWaterDay and tag @blue_missions.

In addition, BLUE Missions will set off a wave of blue around Miami and beyond when they light up several iconic Miami buildings, including the Intercontinental, the Miami Tower, and the Freedom Tower, turning the Miami skyline into a watery blue spectacle. Thanks to the generosity of Clear Channel Outdoor and Ballyhoo Media, that donated digital billboard space, various Miami billboards will also display the BLUE Square on March 22nd. Students at various local high school and middle schools will also show their support by wearing blue to school that day. The campaign culminates in an All BLUE Party hosted by The Wharf Miami, in which all are invited to attend and wear blue.

“At BLUE Missions, our goal is to end the world’s water and sanitation crisis in our lifetime.” says Daniel Rodriguez, CEO of BLUE Missions. “Through this campaign and the work of many of our young volunteers around the world we hope to make critical difference in the lives of the millions around the world who don’t have access to the most basic human need – water.”

Background on BLUE Missions:

The goal of BLUE Missions is to transform the overall health and quality of life of rural communities in Latin America. Through this campaign BLUE Missions will be raising awareness of the water crisis. As water is the basic foundation of any community, many families struggle to meet their most basic needs without it. By building gravity-driven aqueducts, BLUE is taking a huge step in breaking the poverty trap while bringing empowerment, health, and opportunity to locals. BLUE Missions campaign will raise awareness of this global issue not just in Miami but around the world.

Since its founding in 2010, BLUE Missions has successfully completed over 100 service projects that have provided clean water and proper sanitation to a total of 27,365 individuals. BLUE has not only impacted the lives of countless rural families, but it has also impacted the lives of almost 2,000 local high school and university volunteers. The organization has created partnerships with universities across the United States as well as partnerships with different high schools in Miami including, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, Christopher Columbus High School, Immaculata La Salle High School, Westminister High School, Gulliver Preparatory School, and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart. As part of BLUE’s program and in effort to cultivate world-changers, students are afforded the opportunity to travel to aid in the construction of these projects while immersing themselves in the local community and culture.

Together with the support of their community, BLUE Missions aims to create a world where everyone has access to clean water and proper sanitation.
