BUILDING ACCESS TO SAFE SANITATION
Spend seven days in the Dominican Republic working alongside rural communities to help construct safe, private bathrooms for families without access to adequate sanitation.
Sanitation Project Service Trips combine hands-on construction, community partnership, and cultural immersion. Volunteers work directly alongside families while contributing to infrastructure that supports health, safety, and dignity.
WHAT YOU’LL HELP BUILD
BLUE constructs Ventilated Improved Pit (VIP) latrines for families who do not have access to a safe, private, and sanitary bathroom.
Depending on the stage of construction, volunteers may mix cement, cut wood, assemble structures, and use hand tools to help construct bathrooms alongside the families who will use them.
Each latrine is part of a broader effort to improve sanitation conditions, reduce contamination risks, and provide families with safe and dignified access to a bathroom.
Serve
Participate in hands-on construction alongside families, community members, and BLUE’s local team.
Connect
Spend time with the families you are serving while learning about their lives, culture, and community.
Live
Stay within the community in accommodations arranged by BLUE and experience daily life beyond traditional tourism.
Reflect
Process the work as a group and better understand the connection between sanitation, health, dignity, and opportunity.

$500 Required Fundraising Commitment
Separate from your Program Fee, the Community Contribution Fund (CCF) supports the planning, materials, implementation, and long-term sustainability of BLUE’s sanitation, filter, and sustainability projects.
All participants are required to fulfill the $500 CCF commitment through fundraising, personal contributions, or a combination of both.

A $250 non-refundable Registration Deposit is required to reserve your spot and is applied toward your total Program Fee.

FUNDRAISE YOUR IMPACT
