New Program REACHes For a Better World

Have you been on a BLUE trip and returned home with the insatiable need to do more?? Do you feel that your "Let's Change the World!" spark has been ignited and you're just desperately searching for meaningful service work to shine your newly found light upon?

WE COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND.

BLUE Missions is excited to announce the launch of a new program open to all high school students looking to make a difference in our local community and serve our larger global family. The program aptly titled, R.E.A.C.H. (Reflection, Education, Action to Connect Humanity), will explore issues related to service, social justice, and social change.

Monthly meetings held at participating high schools in Miami will challenge students to think about global issues from unique perspectives, with themes ranging from Children in Crisis to Environmental Justice. Meetings will also feature speakers who are movers and shakers for a variety of causes and social justice movements. By giving presentations on their work, speakers will teach students about innovative solutions to some of the greatest issues facing our youngest generation, from climate change to producing enough food to meet the demands of a rising global population.

These global-scale issues can only be solved by global citizens, which is why R.E.A.C.H. strives to foster a class of active global citizens armed with the necessary tools to be able to analyze the causes of problems such as poverty, and innovate the solutions of tomorrow.

R.E.A.C.H. will also engage high school students to be a force for change in the present by offering monthly Community Service Opportunities (CSOs). We'll be collaborating with other nonprofits in Miami to give R.E.A.C.H. students a variety of community service experiences in many different fields. CSOs range from ecosystem reconstruction in a South Florida nature preserve, to assembling clean birthing kits to send to mothers in Africa. R.E.A.C.H. is committed to making community service hours count. Student's will learn hands on about innovative solutions through their service.

At our first R.E.A.C.H. meeting, on October 17th, we'll be exploring Global Citizenship, informing about the program schedule, and playing games along the way. There is sure to be no shortage of inspiration, or laughs. We hope to see many of our past trip participants from ALL high schools around Miami, and those students who have never volunteered with us but are motivated to make a difference.

It's going to be a fun and eventful year! See you at R.E.A.C.H.!
